so last night i made black bean burgers.
they were super tasty
and they are going to be even more so when i get to eat the leftovers today!
however a friend of mine wants me to give her the recipe…
thing is..
when i cook i tend to just throw stuff together.
all haphazardly
not really paying attention to what it is that i am doing.
so to the best of my knowledge
here is what i did

black bean burger noms….
you will need…
*half pound of uncooked black beans or two cans of black beans
(the only reason i did dry beans is cause its cheaper)
*cyanine pepper
*garlic (finely chopped)
*chili powder
*black pepper
*3/4 green bell pepper (med chopped)
*1/4 red onion (small chopped)
*1 to 2 eggs. (depends on how dry your mix is)
*brown deli mustard (anything but the yellow stuff…thats gross)
*1 cup and 1/2 bread crumbs (or cracker crumbs or rice/corn cereal (cereal is what i
*oil (does not matter what kind)

to cook black beans
pre soak-
*in a medium sauce pan place beans and enough water to cover the beans by about an
*add salt
*add cyanine pepper
*bring to a rapid boil
*take off heat
*cover and lets soak for at LEAST 2 hours
*place back in pan
* once again add water, salt, and cyanine pepper
*bring to rapid boil
*turn down to a low temp (i used about #2 on the dial)
*let cook for at LEAST 3 hours (the longer you cook the tender the beans
*drain and let cool

*in a medium sized bowl smash the black beans in to a paste like substance. all the
beans do not need to be smashed just a fair amount. the decision is yours! (its best
to use your hands for the smashing)
*add salt, black pepper, chili powder, cyanine pepper, cumin, garlic, bell pepper, onion,
egg, ketchup, mustard,and bread crumbs
*mix together untill combined
*form burgers. (i was able to make 4 the smaller the burger the more likey it will dry
out and fall apart)
*lightly coat the formed burgers in oil and place on cookie sheet.
*bake for about a half an hour at 375
( i was also roasting potatoes at the time so i was judging the doneness by the
potatoes. they actually took 45 min….but 30 should be good for the burgers. if
they dont look done you can keep them in longer. though more then 45 will dry
them out to much)
